Volunteers are the lifeblood for many nonprofit organizations, and we are no exception. We are grateful for their hard work and joyful energy for our mission. For three weeks, eight volunteers from NOMADS (Nomads On a Mission Active in Divine Service) coming from Michigan, Indiana, Florida and North Carolina have worked tirelessly to help get Wesley Woods in great shape for the summer. THANK YOU does not begin to cover it!
“It has been more than amazing to have this talented, fun-loving community of dedicated workers with us over the past three weeks,” said Rev. David Berkey, Executive Director of Grace Outside. “We could not have opened camp as well without them. They accomplished way beyond expectations and did it with a servant’s heart.”
To name just a few things the volunteers worked on:
- Cleaned up the waterfront area, dock, equipment and built a new kayak rack
- Cleaning and prepping the pool and pool house
- Cleaning cabins and fixing doors
- Landscaping, clearing trails and mulching
- Replace lightbulbs and smoke detectors
- Powerwashing, repairing, painting and moving many things!
David continued, “I am especially grateful to Pam and Steve Heffelbower – Michigan United Methodists – who led the team with grace and precision – often working overtime. Thank you NOMADS, job well done – please come back next year!”
Hosting volunteer groups like the NOMADS at Wesley Woods was made possible by a 2022 grant to install 5 RV campsites.
