Meet Our New Director at Lake Huron Retreat Center
Douglas “DC” Pompey is a recreation, youth development, and program management professional with more than 10 years of experience leading family retreat programs, residential and retreat camps, community engagement, and nonprofit operations. His career has taken him across several states, including Michigan, Illinois, California, and Florida, before bringing him back to his home state of Michigan. His professional experience includes leadership roles with the City of Berkeley Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront Department, the Illinois Conference United Church of Christ, Covert Public Schools, and the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida.
Since 2015, DC has a passion for creating meaningful experiences for children, youth, families, and communities. He especially enjoys developing teams, building relationships, improving programs, and creating welcoming environments where people feel valued and connected.
Outside of work, DC enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, being outdoors, running and recreation, and discovering new communities and experiences. He has a particular appreciation for camp and outdoor environments and the opportunities they provide for people to unplug, connect with others, and create lasting memories.
DC describes his leadership philosophy as one centered on service, relationships, and creating opportunities for others to grow. He is excited to bring his experience, energy, and passion for community and retreat development to Lake Huron Retreat Center and looks forward to getting to know his colleagues and becoming part of the community.

God’s Treasures Camp – Winter Weekend
February 12 – February 14, 2027
This is an experience designed for adults with disabilities. Campers participate in a variety of activities including crafts, music, drama, and Bible story time and fun indoor activities. The winter session is offered to our mobile campers. We can’t wait to see the rest of our campers for summer sessions!
Check-In: February 12 (Between 6 and 7 pm)
Pickup: Sunday, February 14th (Closing program at 11am)
Cost: $200 (total registration fee)
